Messaging policy
If you got a text from Pay Up, Please and you are not sure why, this page is for you. It explains who we message, what we send, and how to stop.
Why you got a text
A kid you know runs a small business (dog walking, car washing, mowing, babysitting) and uses Pay Up, Please to send offers and bills for that work.
You got a text because you asked for one. The first thing we ever send you is an email, not a text: the kid sends an offer or a bill, and that email links to a page showing it. On that page you can type your own mobile number, tick a box agreeing to be texted, and tap Text me. We then text you to confirm. Until you do that, we never text you — everything goes by email instead.
The number has to come from you. We do not text a number that only the kid typed in, because a number you never confirmed is not a number you agreed to.
What we send
These are the only kinds of message we will ever send you:
- An offer for a job, with the price, before any work is done.
- A bill after the work is finished.
- At most two reminders about an unpaid bill — one after three days, one after seven. Then we stop.
- A receipt when the bill is marked paid.
- A note if the kid cancels the bill.
No marketing, no promotions, no newsletters. Every message is about a specific job between you and one kid. We do not text you about anything else, and we never text you on behalf of anybody you have not dealt with.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message and we stop immediately. The first message we ever send you says so.
You can also tap the link in any message and choose No thanks on the page — useful if you would rather not reply to a number you do not recognise.
If you replied STOP and change your mind, text START to the same number. Only that works: a reply from your own handset is the one thing that lifts a block your carrier is holding, and no button on this site can do it for you.
Reply HELP for help, or write to hello@getpup.app. Stopping messages does not cancel anything you owe or are owed — it only stops the texts.
How often
Only when something happens on a job that concerns you. There is no schedule and no minimum. A typical job is one offer, one bill, and a receipt. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan.
Who sees your number
Nobody outside your own dealings. We do not sell, rent or share phone numbers, we do not use them for advertising, and we do not pass them to other families using Pay Up, Please. The kid’s parent or guardian can see who their child is dealing with, which is the point of a product built for families.
More detail is in the privacy policy.
Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported in the United States.
